The Congressional Globe  December 7, 1853  Franklin Pierce’s first Annual Message to Congress
Pierce’s address fills nearly 5 pages.
Several paragraphs at its close concern
the tensions and friction between North and South.
They shed light on the equivocation, denial, deception
and cowardice which will in several years result in the Civil War.
This issue is 10 pages long. Each pages is 11” by 8 ½”.
It is bright, without marks and in very good condition;
the last page is slit several inches from the spine.
It was removed from a volume.
