Description

Hampshire Gazette- August 2, 1809  Report of Ghost in Trial Testimony
Though it’s in poor condition, this is a marvelous paper,
missing very little text. Please check photos.
It was published in Northampton, Massachusettes.
The leading story is of a trial in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland
in which credence is given to the appearance of a ghost.
The story is a full two columns long.
Other stories include European wars
(Portugal, Britain, Vienna, Russia)
and changes in maritime shipping.
There is also an array of news briefs,
and a wide variety of fascinating ads,
each an insight into life in that era.
Though the rag content is high
and it is not at all brittle,
the paper is in poor condition.
It is 4 pages long; each  page is 20” by 12”.
It is stamped Library- Hartford Historical Society.
Please study the photos as they are part of the description.
