Richmond Whig Volume 1 # 10, April 14 1865- day of the Assassination,  When  Richmond fell, the Union press, under the Whig banner, printed the news for the soldiers and citizens,  this 8 page newspaper is loaded with war and political news: The pursuit and capture of Robert E Lee,  the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia,  a fantastic account, minute by minute, actually able to feel the heartbeat dying for the South, and pumping at breakneck speed for the North, great on the site reporting, Gen Forrest whipped near Tuscaloosa, Alabama,  Superb editorials, and a "bonus" Lincoln's probably last proclamation ( April 11) signed in type, Abraham Lincoln- This rare paper is in good condition, pages are separated,  the ink is fading, This is truly a gem, as with all my newspapers- please look at the photos and ask questions,  thanks
